Bristol, UK, 7th November 2011 - Matthew Michalewicz, Director of SolveIT Software - a leading provider of enterprise software for supply and demand optimisation and predictive modeling - led the Keynote Panel Discussion at the Next Generation Mining Summit in Perth in September 2011 with a focus on ‘Planning, Scheduling and Optimising the End-to-End Mining Supply Chain.'

"More than $25bn in capital expenditure is currently being spent on mining projects bringing new capacity on stream in Australia. Currently at various stages of planning and implementation, executors of these projects show no inclination of slowing down given the confidence of capitalising on continued demand," said event organisers from GDS International. "With such massive investments at risk, what is clear to these organisations is that the optimisation of mining infrastructure is crucial. This year marks a renewed emergence of the age of technology and innovation in mining".

"Australia ranks highly in terms of the capacity, efficiency and diversity of our mining resource base, but it is our dominance in innovation and technology developed here in Australia that truly sets us apart," said Michalewicz. "At SolveIT, we have dedicated our development focus on dealing with the complexity of vertically integrated supply and demand chains. We continue to drive innovation using next generation technologies leveraging knowledge fostered with globally leading educational and industry groups with a focus on optimisation. Mining has for a long time utilised the science of optimisation and our partnership with our clients in the resource sector is delivering rapid advancements in improving pit to port, or source to customer visibility for better decision support."

The session at Next Generation Mining Australia summit from SolveIT Software provided insights and case studies from some of the world's most complex supply chains in a range of industries, including mining, fertilizer, wine, grain, and paper. "By drawing comparisons between different process-driven industries, the similarities in terms of inefficiency can lead to cross fertilisation of ideas about how to address these successfully in mining environments" said Michalewicz. "We look forward to engaging our existing mining clients and new organisations interested in next generation capability for advanced planning, scheduling and optimisation".

Other industry leading professionals who spoke at the event included; Chris de Lavigne, Global VP of Consulting, Frost and Sullivan; Peter Meurs, Director of Development, Fortescue Metals; and Gavina Rhoda, National Business Development Manager, ET Group.

Gina Perrin, Summit Director at GDS International - the global business event company behind NGM Australia - says, "We have always been proud of the quality of our summits, but this years' Next Generation Mining Australia Summit was one of our best yet. It is very rewarding to know that our events provide the environment for executives to meet and build valuable relationships that will lead to many exciting new ventures and innovations."
